Gondolas (4)
The D&RGW, in the period we are modeling, had a collection of gondolas with a variety of draft gear and body bolsters as a result of many rebuilding programs. The body bolsters included 3 foot gauge cast bolsters, cut down standard gauge bolsters and metal strap bolsters. Four different styles of striker plates were used, one style with wood draft gear, three styles with the Cardwell cast metal draft gear. One is trapezoidal in shape where the remaining two are rectangular in shape but differ in thickness. We have modeled three gondolas: Gondola 9548, which has wood draft gear and cast narrow gauge body bolsters, Gondola 1646, which has Cardwell metal draft gear with shallow rectangular striker plates and cast narrow gauge body bolsters and Gondola 2149, with thick rectangular striker plates and cut down standard gauge body bolsters. -
Flat Cars (5)
Flat cars are used on the F&PV to haul visitors around the railroad. We have four different types of flat cars. One is the 6300 series which is a wood frame flat car with reinforcement rails strapped on its outside sills. The 6200 series and 6500 series are metal construction. We use a 6000 series flat car with a hollow lumber load to hide propane tanks when we fire the locomotives with propane rather than coal. A 6000 flat is also used to carry the boom of our derrick car. -
Box Cars (2)
D&GRW 3000 box cars came in two versions. One with an economy wood door and the other a steel framed wood door. F&PV has one steel framed door box car in service and an economy door version. -
Stock Cars (6)
Every type of stock car that ran on the D&RGW and RGS, at the time frame we are modeling, is represented on the F&PV except the ever present 5500 series. -
Tank Cars (3)
There are three tank cars on the F&PV -
Caboose (5)
The F&PV has three cabeese. One is a C&S caboose to complement our C&S Mogul #10. In addition there are two D&RGW caboose. All cabeese have authentic interiors. -
Passenger Cars (5)
There are two Passenger cars on the F&PV. They are a coach and a combine. The prototypes operated on the Silverton Mix. Prior to operating on the Silverton, coach 284 worked the Chili Line. Combine 212 operated on the Pagosa Spings branch. -
Maintenance of Way Cars (2)
The F&PV MOW cars consist of a Derrick Car with a Series 6000 flat car boom tender and a Sleeper Car which once was used as a caboose when the Gunnison line was being abandoned.
